Which Steve Jones is this?

Well, there are a lot of people named "Steve Jones." It may not even help to bring middle names into it -- in this case, "Michael." Your best bet may be to check some Photographs and see if you recognize this guy. Failing that, maybe a review of the highlights in the game so far will help.

The Bio

This Steve Jones grew up in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, where most of his (my!) family still resides. After attending the William Penn Charter School in Germantown (class of '86), I spent a little over four years at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. My first job out of school was at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and I lived on Rogers Avenue in West Somerville in '90 and '91.

After a brief stay in Northampton I moved to Manhattan, New York City in 1992. I split after slightly less than a year in the Financial District, half of it at JPMorgan; I just decided I wanted to get out of New York. I moved to Central Massachusetts in 1993 and worked for the HyperDesk Corporation in Westborough. It was about this time that I first started using the name CRASH!! Computing. After HyperDesk abandoned the CORBA market in '94 I went to Integrated Computer Solutions in Cambridge, and found an apartment just a few blocks away by August of that year. This, however, was not to last...

Several friends from New York kept pestering me to try consulting. For a variety of reasons, I finally took one of them up on his offer and took my first consulting contract in New York, which happened to be back at JPMorgan again. Since then I've taken other contracts, and in April of 1996 I incorporated CRASH!! Computing under the laws of the state of New York.

Since then I've done some development work for different parties, some more system and network administration, and spent a lot of time "on vacation" and reflecting on what it means to live in New York, turn 30, et cetera.
