A Duo/Trio of Bass, Drums and part-time Cello, Bourbon Princess creates music that is a dark arrangement of post-punk, jazz, blues, and Middle Eastern sounds.
Monique Ortiz furnishes a vocal range of smokey lows, and soulful highs to weave around her percussive and often twangy fretless bass playing. Her stories of sex, drugs and, rock and roll are no longer cliche' when put to a groove even belly dancers can't resist.
With just a minimal drumkit Dave Millar's dynamic approach to the music is more than just the backbone for the songs. His playing will either swing low with the bass or, take the lead and drive it over the edge.
Cellist Jonah Sacks adds color and style to roughly half the band's tunes. Soulful, jagged, and fully electric, this is not the cellist you hired for your daughter's wedding ceremony.
Since the conception of the band at a party jam session, spontaniety has always been the key to their unique style. Bourbon Princess is as dark and raw as the dive bar down the street.
